I’ve made a promise to myself. It’s a big one and it’s a little bit daunting, and that’s why I wanted to publicly share it here on the blog. You see, dear reader, if I tell you that I’m going to do something, it’s going to increase my chances of following through and actually making it happen.
So this winter, I’m going to try online dating. I’ve been single for long enough, and the truth is that I’d love to find someone to share my life with. Here are the important reasons why I’ve decided to try online dating in my mission to meet the man of my dreams…
It’s the season for snuggling
The run up to Christmas seems like it’s designed for couples. There are parties to attend, family members to visit, and festive films to watch in front of the fire with a glass of mulled wine. Though I’m more than happy to do all these things on my own, I know that it would be extra special to have someone to share it with.
You can also have some really unique dates at this time of year. If you meet someone on a Hampshire dating site and you’re eager to get to know each other better, you could head to your local Christmas market together, or watch a carol service. It’ll definitely make for a memorable first date.
As long as you’re sensible, there’s nothing to be worried about
People often think that online dating could potentially be dangerous. Whilst that’s true to a certain extent, there’s plenty you can do to make sure that you’re going to be safe. I’ll be meeting dates from dating sites in Hampshire in public places, I’ll be sure not too share personal details, and I’ll always let someone know where I’ll be, and what time they can expect to hear from me.
At the end of the day, you can meet the wrong people absolutely anywhere. Online dating is becoming more and more socially acceptable, and this can only be a positive thing. After all, if we work long hours and tend to have friends who are settled down in relationships, it can be tricky to try to meet new people as you’re just going about your everyday business.
I’ve got literally nothing to lose
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather spend my cash on a new pair of shoes for my upcoming dates, rather than on a subscription to a dating site. The good news is that there are plenty of free dating sites out there, so you really don’t have to spend a penny.
Of course, there’s no guarantee that I’ll meet the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. But there’s the possibility that I might, and it’s a journey that I’m willing to take.
Have you ever tried online dating? If so, did it work out for you? And do you have any tips that you’d share with anyone who’s thinking about doing the same? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
